Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials joined industry partners Tuesday to celebrate the reopening of Heshbon Bridge on Route 259 in Brush Valley and East Wheatfield townships.
During a standard bridge inspection, which takes place every two years, a main truss on the bridge showed signs of damage consistent with a vehicle strike, according to Alice Hammond, PennDOT District 10 assistant district executive for design.
“Completing these repairs and reopening the Heshbon Bridge as quickly as possible was a priority for PennDOT and Governor Shapiro,” Carroll said. “We know that Route 259 is an important roadway to the people of this region, and we are grateful for the folks who worked diligently to make that happen.”
Francis J. Palo Inc. provided general contractor supervision for the bridge repair project; Abate Irwin Inc. provided iron workers; Quality Bridge & Fab Inc. provided steel; 446 Painting LLC painted new and existing steel; HRV Conformance Verification Associates Inc. inspected new steel and paint; and Michael Baker International Inc. provided structural engineering for permanent and temporary repairs.
